. . . For Hiking

T-shirts can be used for just about everything these days can’t they. They can advertise your business or your favorite brand . . . . . tell everyone about your taste in music (and your taste in bad jokes), they can offend, they can decorate, they can be scary, they can be soaked wet for competitions, and they’re also great for hiking!

Hiking t-shirts might not necessarily look that different to other t-shirts, but they do have one or two special features which you might not find on your local market stall.

  • Soft fabric which is designed specially to draw the moisture away from your skin whilst you’re racking up the hiking miles along the trail.
  • Quick drying fabric, after all, hiking t-shirts are exposed to moisture from the inside . . . . and all too often they’re exposed to rain and moisture from the outside too. Quick drying is an essential feature of t-shirts designed for hiking.
  • Comfortable stitching and seams. Many hiking t-shirts actually have shoulder seams which are rolled forward to make carrying your backpack extra comfortable.
  • Protection against the sun . . . when you’re hiking, in fact when you’re taking part in any outdoor pursuit you can be exposed to the sun for many hours in the day, so protection from the harmful rays of the sun is an important feature of t-shirts which are designed for hiking.
  • Classic easy wear fit is also important for hiking t-shirts. Some people think it’s cool to wear big and baggy t-shirts, but it’s actually much better to wear a t-shirt for hiking which fits well.
  • Long sleeves or short sleeves . . . the choice is yours. There is, however, a lot to be said for long sleeves which can be rolled up in warm weather, as opposed to short sleeves which cannot be rolled down in cold weather.

T-shirts are a great bit of hiking kit whatever the weather . . . remember about how important it is to layer up for the changes of weather? Well, t-shirts are great for layering!

Yeah yeah, it’s a bit boring though isn’t it . . . some of these are much more entertaining, though I admit they’re not really suitable for hiking, just for FUN!
