Granola Trail Energy Bar Recipe
Great recipe, better than any store bought product. Filling and tastes great.
2 cups oats
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup sesame seeds
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups dried fruit, chopped (apricots, cranberries, pears, blueberries, cherries, apples, etc.)
2 tablespoons real maple syrup
Butter a 9 x 9 inch baking dish and line it with parchment paper.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spread out oats onto a sheet pan.
Place in the oven and toast for about ten minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add sesame seeds and toast the ingredients for another two minutes.
Meanwhile, combine the honey, brown sugar, peanut butter, vanilla, syrup and salt in a saucepan and place over medium heat. Cook until combined. Try and not let the great smell distract your husband from doing chores around the home.
Once the trail bar mixture is done, remove it from the oven and immediately add it into the liquid mixture, add the dried fruit, and stir all the ingredients.
Turn trail bar mixture out into the prepared baking dish and press down, evenly distributing the mixture in the dish.
Cool completely and cut into squares and store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Don’t let husband sample until on the trail.
